Specialist Treatments in Paignton

Targeted techniques for stubborn tension

When hands alone are not enough, Ellis draws on a toolkit of specialist techniques: dry needling, dry cupping, kinesiology taping, buccal and TMJ-focused massage, and lymphatic drainage.

Dry needling

Western, trigger-point dry needling uses very fine needles to target tight bands and knots within a muscle. It can reach tension that massage alone struggles to release, and Ellis often combines it with hands-on work in the same session.

Dry needling is not acupuncture. It is a modern soft tissue technique based on anatomy and trigger-point theory, not traditional Chinese medicine. If you are curious but cautious, ask Ellis at your appointment; nothing is ever used without your agreement.

Dry cupping

Cupping uses gentle suction to lift and decompress the tissue, the opposite action to massage pressure. Many clients find it deeply relieving on tight backs, shoulders and legs, and it pairs well with deep tissue work.

Expect distinctive circular marks afterwards. They are temporary, usually painless and fade within days: a small price for the release many people feel.

Kinesiology taping

The colourful stretchy tape you see on athletes is applied with purpose: to support a recovering area while letting it move. Ellis uses kinesiology taping alongside treatment and rehab, so support continues after you leave the clinic.

Taping is included within treatment sessions where it will genuinely help, not sold as an add-on.

Buccal & TMJ-focused massage

60 min · £60

If your jaw clicks, aches or feels permanently clenched, this treatment is for you. Buccal massage works the muscles of the face and jaw from inside the cheek as well as outside, while TMJ-focused massage targets the muscles around the jaw joint, neck and head.

The aim is simple and honest: easing muscular tension and tightness around the jaw. It is a massage treatment, not a medical treatment for TMJ disorder; if Ellis suspects something needing a dentist or doctor, she will tell you.

Lymphatic drainage massage

90 min · £60

The quietest treatment on the menu. Lymphatic drainage is a slow, rhythmic, feather-light massage designed around comfort and relaxation, a complete contrast to deep tissue work and a favourite for switching off.

The full 90 minute session is unhurried from start to finish. If you are unsure whether deep tissue or lymphatic drainage suits you better, mention it when booking and Ellis will advise.

Honest advice

Never a technique for technique's sake

Specialist techniques are tools, not tricks. Ellis recommends them only where your assessment suggests they will genuinely help, explains what each involves and always asks before using them.

Unsure which treatment fits? Start with a standard appointment. The assessment will point to the right approach, whether that is massage, needling, cupping, taping or simply a good rehab plan.

  • Every technique explained before it is used
  • Combined with hands-on treatment in one session
  • Your consent, comfort and questions come first
